To The Stars : Ovi

I hold the corner of gale’s veil,
towards the starlit sky I sail,
flying above the hill and vale,
to the stars I find my  way.

I cross the dazzling northern lights,
shining forever brilliant bright,
such enchanting beautiful sight,
and there I find my star.

The Ovi is: 12 th century Marathi folksong
• stanzaic, written in any number of 4 line stanzas.
• syllabic, 8-8-8-(less than 8 ) syllables
• rhymed, with L1, L2, L3 mono-rhymed L4 unrhymed. aaax, x being unrhymed.

  2. Both of us looking to the stars, this day. Looking to find my star, too. Lovely, Vandana. (A very, hectic week for me - called in on Nana babysitting duty - but I shall endeavor to "catch up" a bit tomorrow, as things seem to be getting back to normal ... ha, whatever that is.)

  3. Nice. It would be cool to be among the stars. I watched interstellar over the weekend as well and the love he had for his daughter and desire to reach her beyond all limits...plays well with your verse.

  19. Thank you for introducing us to the Ovi. I ma always interested in new (to me) forms. You have used it beautifully. (I spotted a typo, though. You have 'shinning' instead of 'shining'. Also I wonder if you mean 'sight' rather than 'site'.)
