Everyone Is Alone

A constellation of stars,
looks close enough from afar,
but in reality every star is lodged far and far.

Sunflower petals,
seem latched on to one another,
but each trails its own path towards the sun.

Sand flows with wind,
devotionally following everywhere,
but every particle has its own story to tell.

Moments,
memories,
time,
we live and lose,
in a blink all gone,
in the end everyone is alone.

  1. So very true. Each person is alone at birth and alone at death and many times in between.....

  3. Very true! But not always a bad thing. Alone can be good, lonely is not. Well-expressed imagery.

  10. This is very beautiful. I was most struck by the thought of each sunflower petal making its own journey, something I had not thought of before.

  12. Nice... far and far, for sure. I actually think this poem would be stronger without the last stanza. I love the reflections.

  13. Stars, Sunflowers and Sand... lovely way to explain
Even in a crowded room I am alone within myself - we all are, and that isn't a bad thing. As Nilanjana Bose says, alone and lonely are two different things.

  14. wow! i never thought of it like that, but so true. often when we feel lonely, we see the world as filled with togetherness... but if we examine those things we think of as symbols of closeness, we see we are all striving for connection. loverly!

  15. Reflective poem.We all strive to ward off the inevitability of being alone cramming our lives with busyness so we do not have to address it.
