A Lonesome Spirit

A lonesome spirit,
watches the world go by,
as thousands of moonbows and sunsets die.

Deep in woods,
perched atop the sky,
it sings a dirge,
willing to submerge.

Shrouded in fog,
lost in darkness,
a lonesome spirit watches the world go by,
as thousands of moonbows and sunsets die.

Goddess India: Enchanting and Alluring

Many have told her story,
of unending quest and glory.
In her heart many mysteries reside,
sometimes they open and sometimes hide.

Her crown of Himalayas,
holds secret of an eternal life.
 Himalayan alpine shrub and meadows,
resonate with songs of monk,
far across rings a gong.

Western Ghats line her shore,
giving resources in galore.
Treasure them with love and care,
life needs their aroma to flourish with flair.

Majestic Ajanta – Ellora caves,
magnanimous like waves,
their beauty unmatched,
made of rock from scratch.

The oceans that surround her,
roar with emotions.
Pearls, minerals they harbour,
dive deep to explore within.

Never she takes back anything,
for she is a giver and
humanity lover.

Today’s India and yesteryears India is a lot different. People have changed, their values and morals too have changed ( or may  I say digressed ), we have damaged our country be it by politics/corruption/ pollution/dwindling social structure.
But still the soul of India is intact somehow and in my opinion it is THE SOUL OF BHARAT
MATA( Bharat = India, Mata = Mother ) that still holds the beauty of India.

Dissolving : Shadorma

Drop by drop,

                             my every part melts,

                             into wisps,

                            coalescing forever,

                            into celestial cosmos,

rolling endlessly.

Thoughts: Choka

Night hums lullaby,
giving rest to heart and mind,

Flowers unfurling,
petals imbibe morning dew,
a new day begins.

to the world unknown,
I am floating purposeless.

Her Heart

She wanted to write
songs of praise
for him
only for him
so, god made him
her poetry.

                 She wanted to be
                 a part of
                 his life
                 just a little part
                 so, god made her
                 his memory.

                                    She wanted to be
                                    close to him
                                    forever and ever
                                    never to part
                                    so, god made him
                                    her heart.

Wintry Memories : Ottava Rima

Beautiful white cloudy skies of winter,
precious memories to hold and cherish,
yearning desires of a heart to enter,
the sanctuary of a soul ,with love to embellish.
A hearth full of warm emotional cinders,
and every infinity to relish.
But the wintry winds touched and left,
leaving the hearts in cold arrest.

Ottava Rima : 8 lines, no set meter, but can  use iambic pentameter. Rhyme scheme : abababcc

Everyone Is Alone

A constellation of stars,
looks close enough from afar,
but in reality every star is lodged far and far.

Sunflower petals,
seem latched on to one another,
but each trails its own path towards the sun.

Sand flows with wind,
devotionally following everywhere,
but every particle has its own story to tell.

we live and lose,
in a blink all gone,
in the end everyone is alone.

You Must Have Fallen From The Sky

Glistening raindrops,
falling from the sky,
searching for someone,
they hold high.
It must be you,
who fell from the cerulean sky.

Lightning’s songs,
peeping from the clouds
searching for someone,
to wrap around.
It must be you,
who fell from the cerulean sky.

Tiny icy crystals,
floating above the sphere,
searching for someone,
they want to adhere
It must be you,
who fell from the cerulean sky.

Sparkling droplets of dew,
swimming in the air,
searching for someone,
they always wish to be near,
It must be you,
who fell from the cerulean sky.

Losing My Soul

Losing my soul in the stillness of night,
I let myself wander in her silent voices,
her icy hands gesturing,
calling me to hold them.

I slowly give in to her temptations,
as if she is a healer,
her spell works upon me,
losing my light, I walk deeper into her world,
and see her darkness rising in me.

Moon Of The Dark Sky

Moon of the dark sky,
up there you shine bright,
here I aimlessly gaze at your beautiful sight,
to you I wish to fly.

Trees try to touch the sky,
to bathe under your calming aura,
your rays sparkle every flora.

You are in the arms of a hazel- grey sky,
I envy its embrace upon you,
wrapped in cloudy dew.

Oh! moon of the dark sky,
with you my emotions ride,
all my secrets in you I confide,
to you I wish to fly.

One day I'll be your night and you my moon.

The Weeping Willow

In dark of the night,
at break of the dawn,
the jungle stares at her.
She, who once was laden with fruits,
and covered with leaves,
now weeps.

Her tears never dry,
her cries never cease,
lamenting her glorious past,
and a heart sans shields,
she weeps.

Scars of hatred, pain and glum,
grip her tightly,
she bleeds and  bleeds,
a river of sorrow.
Waiting for an eternal sleep,
the weeping willow weeps.

Sweet Death : Tanka

Black fine robe she wears,
gives solace to my spirit,
her magic – charming,
a soul catcher from afar,
walks along with the shadow.

Her peaceful aura,
expands beyond time and space,
waiting patiently,
to finish our agonies,
and fly to a new empire.

I call upon thee,
custodian of god’s gates,
hold me in your arms,
sing me a sweet lullaby,
and I will sleep in your hold.
Tanka :  Japanese poetry having  five unrhymed lines  of 5, 7, 5, 7, 7 syllables
